The piper in peacetime

Machine Mart

The story so far

March is when the motorhome cover comes off and we prepare for good use.  Having decided this year a generator is needed, the 750 watt version of the Clarke gennerator was bought from Screwfix.  It didn't and was returned.

Machine Mart was next on the list, with the 1000 watt version in mind.  The Gloucester UK branch suppied one which soon went back due to running problems.  These categories may need to be corrected and I found out that you can buy cheaper versions than advertised on the MM website.

The starting price is £286.  I bought a Red Label machine for £188.  It looked presentable so off I went.  On two trips, it ran as described.  It went back and out I came with a Green Label machine at £228.  It looked decidely scratched etc.  It ran OK but didn't charge the motorhome.  I look to MM for the correct names of the labels and its policy on refunds versus credit notes.  I could not think of anything else when offered one of the latter by the Gloucester branch.

Watch this space.  When it is all settled, I might put a link to this page here.

My thanks to all those who are in touch by email and phone.  I appreciate your technical advice and support.
