First World War memorabilia call-out for display

The call has gone out for First World War memorabilia for a display at The Courtyard.

This autumn, the Hereford arts centre is marking the centenary of the start of the First World War with a series of plays, workshops and films.

The finale will be a variety performance from community groups and choirs on November 11 called Lest We Forget.

Artefacts, family history research and memorabilia are all required for the display.

Curtis Fulcher, marketing and sales manager at the Courtyard, said: "We would

love to hear from as many people as possible; no matter how small the story.

"Herefordshire has a rich cultural history from experiences within the 1914-18 war."

Call The Courtyard's marketing department on 01432 346513 or email competitions@courtyard.org.uk

1

"Salute to Queen and Country" is one of my compositions and it is on this page.  It could set the scene.

2

I volunteer to lead songs on the bagpipe as seen at the foot of the page here.  "Hymn-sheets" can be produced and I will send text.

3

A page has been written for schools and young people groups interested in WW2 events. Some aspects apply to WW1.

Some schools may start WW1 projects and I can help them take the outcome to the Courtyard event.  More here.

4

Flowers of the Forest  is the most moving pipe tune imaginable and is entirely suitable.  youtube

It is the one tune to bring the show to an end.

5

Another suitable tune is Going Home  here.  At times, it's too fast and the end isn't right.
